BE A HERO

“Be a Hero – Say No to Drugs” is a year-long initiative (May 2025 to April 2026) by ViswaSanthi Foundation in collaboration with government bodies, law enforcement, and national programs. The campaign targets students and youth across Kerala through structured interventions, digital outreach, community engagement, and policy advocacy. We are collaborating with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Kerala Excise Department. The program aims to build a drug-free future. Our goal is to raise awareness and build resistance against substance abuse among students, parents, educators, and the wider community.
Urgency Visual

Urgency of the Problem

Substance abuse among Kerala’s adolescents and youth has become a deep-rooted crisis impacting families, schools, and communities. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and ground-level analysis reveal urgent vulnerabilities that demand immediate, focused intervention.

Early Exposure

Students are being introduced to drugs around educational institutions, with some forced into drug networks through blackmail.

Mental Health Challenges

Stress, depression, and family conflicts push many adolescents towards substance use as a form of self-medication.

Surge in Synthetic Drug Use

A 333% rise in synthetic drug cases has made potent, easily accessible drugs a major threat to young first-time users.

VSF's Impact on Youth Empowerment

ViswaSanthi Foundation (VSF) has consistently addressed key issues affecting youth in Kerala. With a focus on education, healthcare, and community welfare, VSF implements data-driven programs to prevent substance abuse and promote mental well-being. Its strong partnerships enable scalable, lasting impact.

Over 1 Million Students Reached

Through Kalalayam, the flagship school awareness program since 2017, VSF has reached more than 1 million students.

Youth Mentorship Program (22–24)

Direct engagement with over 500,000 youth via expert-led interactive sessions across Kerala. Participants reported high satisfaction and improved coping strategies.

Family-Centered Interventions

Conducted awareness and counselling sessions for 10,000+ families, equipping parents with communication tools and strategies.
